That sounds... incredibly fun. The number of songs you listed that are living in one of my playlists or on a CD is high enough that I'll have to check out the rest.
Maybe this is a good motivation to get my soundcard drivers un-borked and my usual music sources working again... LabRat | Email | Homepage | 09.14.07 - 1:51 pm | #

Awsome! It's a shame american pubs can't do similar quality music. Everyone/thing is too PC and pop money oriented.
Thanks for the memory making agenda! Pagan Blacksmith | Email | Homepage | 09.15.07 - 1:18 am | #

I picked up some SLF after the last time you mentioned them.
Pretty good shite.
There's sadly nothing quite like a real pub here. O'Neill's is about the closest, and there's only rarely dancing there. Mostly just knocking them back to forget where you are, and ogle the few females who show up (still more than just about anywhere else except the Hash Runs.)
When I get home for good, I'm opening a pub in Vancouver (WA). This sounds about along the lines I'm hoping for. My buddy Seumas laughingly calls it Celtic Noir, a bit of gritty East Coast Irish bar, set in a bit more antique-looking setting, with a touch of Glasgow thrown in for good measure. Mostly focussed on an open yet intimate architecture to encourage the craic. thebastidge | Email | Homepage | 09.15.07 - 4:32 am | #

Brings back memories of KUKQ 1060 AM here in Phoenix and all the clubs in the '90's that didn't suck. I really miss the "Top 40" of alternative music from those days. Eclectic changes in genre for track to track, but everything was good, especially when Uncle Milty's Stay Groovy set started in at the Asylum and the pit formed. Still remember that, always had "We care alot" by Faith no More, "Institutionalized" by ST and then Minitstry's "Thieves", always brought the house down. Or trying to skank to "One Step Beyond" for the whole song.
Man, I hate being old(ish), I now realize the weight started adding on after I stopped hitting the clubs all the time. Orxbane | Email | Homepage | 09.15.07 - 5:51 am | #

Oh, and Bastidge, drop a line somewhere when that pub opens. Half my family lives in Brush Praire/Battlegrounds, definitely would stop in when visiting. Or, if my exit strategy comes to fruition, live back in the NW where I damnwell belong. Orxbane | Email | Homepage | 09.15.07 - 5:53 am | #

Thanks, Chris.
That certainly took me back. I saw the Sultans live a few times - brilliant. Sad to think you and I might have been in Fibber's simultaneuosly, but never met...

Good videos. I enjoyed hearing the half of the songs I already knew again and was pleased to learn of the other half.
I can totally see "Where's Me Jumper" being the Irish equivalent of "YMCA" at sporting events to get butts up and jumping. Les Jones | Email | Homepage | 09.18.07 - 6:57 pm | #
