The exclusion from the activity bothers me.
How many wives would be happy with their husband asking to go to a concert without them?
How many wives would be happy with their husband asking to go to a concert with a single, heterosexual female (who is not a close family friend), without them?
And to only be asked to go AFTER saying something about not being invited?
Why should I, the husband, be happy about it? What is the problem here that I just don't understand?

I feel different than I used to about going out alone with single opposite sex friends to concerts and the like.
This would be a "no" in our house, on both sides.

So CCW will be at a concert while I am performing job related work and home related work. Yeah, fucking-a that sounds great to me. And you wonder why I would be pissed?
It is not any different from when she goes to group except that it is a concert of a band that I would see, she will be drinking, she will home later, and I was excluded from going until after I mentioned something about inviting me.

Oh, and to address the "You're really mad because you don't want me to leave and have fun.* You'll be mad if I go and I'll be mad if you don't let me go."
I just don't like the idea of CCW going to have 'fun' with a single, heterosexual male especially if alcohol is involved, without me. Why can't CCW go have fun with her girl friend since childhood, the vet. asst.?
I know the HELL (PURE AND UTTER HELL) that the house would be because I told her to stay home. She will always get to do whatever she wants to do because I do not want to tell her "no, you can't do that." I don't carry a wooden club nor do I drag her around by her hair. Jesus.
No matter what she wants to do like this - if I say something - I get this type of reaction. So no matter how much this bothers me, I am in the wrong. That sucks a dirty ass no matter who you are.

Mr. MFBA, since you feel the need to vent on here you should mention that you get upset when I go anywhere with female friend. You always have a fit because I am leaving the house and having fun.
I won't even get in to your resentment over group because I enjoy myself when I go. Actually I intend to but that is another blog post.
I get the single person with a penis but I in no way shaper nor form view him as anything other than a friend. That is mutual, unlike some of my other male friends.

Oh forgot to say that it would not bother me if you went to a concert with a female friend. Especially if I did not want to go. Especially if I did not want to go because I simply did not want to go.

For what it's worth, my husband goes to shows without me all the time (our taste in music doesn't always overlap). Sometimes with guy friends, sometimes w/ girlfriends. My only caveat is that I meet the friends if they're girls before they go. Otherwise, I'm happy to have the house to myself for the night.
If I think he's going out too much (which sometimes I do), I bring it up as non-confrontationally as I can.
It's not always perfect, but we always try and find some middle ground.

Can't help either of you on this one. No good groups ever have concerts in our little town, and frankly, neither of us gets out much.
Crap, that's pathetic. But oh, so true. Note to self: Go out more.
