NSLS, our insurance is so bad that it is laughable. We pay a fortune for it and in return get $2,000 for the entire family to cover anything that is not a baby well-visit or physical for us.
Jessica, the results came back fine. It was simply normal cellular changes. I just happened to get my pap done at the wrong time of the month.
Even with good results, it still pisses me off that our insurance won't pay for the claim b/c my doctor happened to send it to a lab they no longer covered.

Kate, I intend to file an appeal because this is just one of the many ridiculous things this insurance company has done. I am so freakin' sick of having to call them all the time only to find them as unhelpful as can be.
The company has switched to a different consumer driven plan for next year but it is out of Illinois so we are losing most of our doctors. Hello - we live in Ohio not Illinois.

Oh dear lord. I hate insurance companies. I just had a claim for anesthesia questioned. Anesthesia administered while they were shoving a camera on a tube down my throat. I know, I know, I should have just bucked up.

yankee, once my insurance (military tricare) denied my claim for anesthesia when I had my wisdom teeth removed (top extracted, bottom cut out). I couldn't believed that they denied anesthesia to have my jaw cut; a dentist won't even perform that without you being knocked out

Wow. I'm pretty speachless. Maybe I should redo that survey HR sent out yesterday because we do indeed have it pretty good.
Sorry CCW and I'm glad everything turned out fine as far as the test goes at least...

NSLS, when Mr. MFBA started working at the company the health insurance was not only less expensive but fabulous. I had my gall bladder removed for under $50. NSBH was born under that wonderful insurance, too. We paid for Nonami's birth for nearly a year.
Madeleine, yes I do have the habit of writing letters and/or e-mails when I feel I am getting ripped off. I just have to make sure I don't call them assholes in my appeal.

Glad everything turned out well.
As for insurance: it just was confirmed to me that OUR insurance company outsources their customer service to India! I got this bit of news when I was telling the audiologist that my hearing problem really rears its ugly head whenever I speak to someone with an accent! I guess I have to have hubby call if there ever is a problem or just have to deal with it and ask them to repeat everything at least two times. BLAH!

Jerks! Healthcare is such a joke these day! It makes me realize how lucky I am that I work for the state! My friend just got booted off of her insurance for having a questionable TB test. She's otherwise perfectly healthy and the TB test was never positive. It just came out weird the first time.
I had that procedure done and I agree that where your cervical tissue is being sent is the last thing on your mind! I was more concerned with where I could score some vicoden and how quickly I could get home! Mine too was just crazy hormones but it sure is scary waiting for the results.

cmk, we had so much trouble getting our refrigerator problems solved b/c the only people you could speak to where in India. It was nightmarish b/c I had trouble understanding them and they had trouble understanding my twang.
Plus, they had no understanding of tha places/locations that I was speaking about. I cannot imagine how difficult it would be to try to sort out health insurance issues this way.
Sarah, my mom works for the state and she always says how lucky she feels b/c her issurance is the same as the legislators which means they will never vote to give themselves shitty insurance.
I've had the procedure done before but it hurt more than before this time. I was definitely not in the frame of mind to follow my cervical tissue to ensure it stayed in network.

I had this exact same problem with (not coincidentally) the same insurer. You need to get somebody in your husband's HR department involved and make them pay it. The reason they keep pulling this crap is because they get away with it.
I know it makes you seem like a pest, but honestly, I figure the more times I bug HR because the "insurance" company screwed up, the more likely they are to DUMP THEM and maybe we can get a company that actually pays claims instead of pushing them around until finally the subscriber pays it in order to avoid being turned over to collection.
Um, not that I have a strong opinion about it or anything. Heh.

Unbelievable. Really. Move to Canada. Insurance companies are evil here too, but they have much less impact on our overall health care choices. Mostly I only deal with our extended health care plan for dentistry and the service charge for prescriptions (not the drugs themselves).

Ann, HR at my husband's company is a joke. Now that the headquarters have moved away leaving three of the worst HR workers they are practically worthless.
I will write the appeal letter and if that doesn't work I will try going through HR.
Sue, I can't wait to get national health care in this country. I know it's not perfect but it will beat the hell out of spending $500+ for the insurance and all of the bills we owe. I swear we'll be paying some of these people for years, literally.
