I think you need to narrow it down to either "Windows XP" or "Windows Vista". I'm sure you got a lot of hits for the hardware version of windows

In 2 or 3 reloads on a search for iPhone in Google News, I got differing numbers. Might make sense to specify a time of day that you grab the number. Say close of business on the Pacific Coast?

An excellent idea, Carl. It would be great to see this done generally if possible, to let you track and display other future phenomena as well.
And will the data be displayed as table, or graph? My vote: both.

I agree with Bob from above. If you type "windows", you'll get slew of sites like Home Depot, Anderson (Sp?), as well as articles about theft (via broken windows, although still apt re: Microsoft), and so on. You're right, though. Buzz will be highest during initial week.
