MSFT would never SAY it, but they know they are in the crosshairs. They have exactly TWO products that make money: Office and Windows. AND both suck.

I could live with Office, but never with Windows. Ever.
As long as there's Windows, I'll stonewall buying/using Office. I can still do that.
As for 'Wine', YellowBox, et al., bring it on baby!

FYI, Yellow Box is not for running Windows on the Mac. It's the Apple name for OpenStep NT which allowed you to compile and run OpenStep applications on NT 3.5.1. It's what they shipped to developers before "Rhapsody" was released (the first public builds of OpenStep for PPC).
Essentially, you ported your Objective-C (Cocoa) apps over to a PC, edited some of the UI to make it look nice for NT and compiled a binary. It usually didn't take long to do. It's actually simpler to get a Mac binary on both i386 and PPC as the OS calls are the same.
This isn't the same as a universal binary. With OpenStep, you had different binaries (physically) for different platforms. If you open up a modern Macintosh application, you will see a "MacOS" folder where the Mac binary is. If you did the same for an OpenStep binary you'd see different folders for different architectures (i386/68k/sparc/hpux if I recall).
If I recall correctly, you could compile for 68K and i386 from Project Builder and it made two binaries with NeXTSTEP (3.2). That wasn't fat either, though I might be wrong about that.

My mistake; I thought Yellow Box was a library/system call translator that allowed you to run Windows apps. Kind of like Wine, but a little smarter.
Thanks for the correction!

Microsoft may decide to update Virtual PC so they would only need to build one version of all the Microsoft apps.

"Yellow Box" became Cocoa and "Blue Box" was the Classic Mac compatibility.
There was a rumoured "Red Box" several years back which was never released.
