My first encounter with the Internet was when a friend logged us into the Pentagon's Zork server in 1977. It was the "Arpa net" then.

I fully agree with you regarding the media's overemphasis on "slash" games. Funny, the best ever computer games do NOT involve realistic violence: Spaceward Ho; Oxyd; Myst; Glider Pro; Qix/ Barrack; Sim City; Railroad Tycoon.
