Gravatar It is a version of Leopard that powers the iPhone - and always has been. How do we know? Because Jobs stated that it had core animation in a slide he showed at Macworld, back in January.

Gravatar Interesting patent that relates to this topic:

Gravatar I wrote about various business, design and technology reasons why iPhone/iPod touch is not open at the moment here:

"iPod touch nay-sayers: shackled by "gadget thinking"

Gravatar The "cat out of the bag" argument about Leopard secrecy isn't particularly compelling. Leopard seeds have been available under NDA to registered developers for the last year. An iPhone SDK could be put out through exactly the same channel without further exposing Leopard itself.

Gravatar I really want this to be true, but I'm having my doubts. My opinion of Apple is dropping, fast. After building year after year to the point that I actually went and bought a $4000 system from this last May.

I want to like them, I really do. But as long as they are selling "services" (text messages, ringtones) that ought to be simple software features, and locking out developers like me, I just can't get excited about anything they announce now.

The worst part is, I was really looking forward to Leopard. Really. Now, I'm kind of ashamed to say that I will probably buy it.

Whether I stick with Apple going forward from there, well, that is entirely up to Apple.

Gravatar .....that all iPhone application run with root privileges, .....

Which means that the iphone is a security hellhole, open for ANYONE with a little unix knwnoledge to turn ANY iphone into an ibrick, phish data, use the account, install viiri, spyware, .....

LOL - It is less secure than Xp or Vista ....
