"one sub-meme that seems to keep popping up is that people should sue for refunds."
I think the guy is just kidding to make fun of the "WHAAA!!! let's sue Apple" crowd. Bald and Obese Chair-thrower is kidding, too. From his posting history and screen name (nice little hommage to Steve Ballmer) he's an Apple fan and wouldn't consider suing Apple for a price cut.

I'd extend that to "Stop the 'Sue Apple' madness... but unfortunately this IS America and Apple is a juicy target and all the lawyers need to win is a silly settlement with a few million in it for their fees.
Obviously a legal doctrine that would make a firm liable for cutting prices is a non-starter because of the obvious precedent and harm to consumers. But all the lawyers need to "win" is to get their "usual and customary" fees paid.
And so, while the posters were probably kidding (well the entitlement attitude, "Apple should..." is probably real), I would not be surprised to find an entrepreneurial lawyer actually instigating such an action.
I propose a "lawyer free Friday" rule for all apple-related sites.

I agree- Why are people getting so upset about the price cuts? How many times have you heard someone say "Oh, I'll buy it after the holiday season, the price is bound to come down". You'd think this sort of business strategy would be expected. With your "Is this still America" question, I believe suing for no apparent reason has become the American way. Let's remember the law suit over McDonald's coffee that was "too hot". Americans will squeeze every last cent out of big companies- given the chance.
