I think that was the fastest comment I have ever seen, Tom. I haven't even finished fixing the formatting yet. 
And yes, Apple could undercut Amazon, but I think they recognize that they don't actually have to. And having Amazon in the market could conceivably help them if anti-trust issues arise.

The AMZN store COULD impact iPod market share by making life simpler for non-iTMS users, but, I think, not by much. Wannabe MP3-player companies still have a very high bar to hit to compete.
Dispell ? - The spell checker has failed 
Many forget to mention that iTunes is as much a music management program as a store. One can use it off-line and Amazon's web store is not something people will be using while playing their music. 600,000,000 copies of iTunes on windows and mac pc's is so huge...so hard to even put a dent into.
I just love how the media focus is on toppling Apple from the top of the hill, when Amazon's store will also be drawing customer's from Microsoft and Real...

What is nice about the Amazon store is that the price of music is now more firmly set, at less than $1 per song. It will be hard for the music corps to push the price higher. This is great for consumers, who will likely buy more songs. It is also great for player maufacturers, especially Apple, as there will be increased demand for high capacity players, and for frictionless ways for consumers to browse their music libraries, to choose the songs to play on their computers/home systems and/or to sync to their portable players.
