I wonder if Harry Potter buzz will break the iPhone peak story count of 22,605?
Forty percent of 146,000 iPhone activiations is 58,400 new customers. Not bad, for what, a day and a half?

Carl,
I believe that the 146,000 figure might be quite in line with your projections. Why? First, this number indicates only one thing with certainty---that at least 146,000 phones were SOLD by Saturday night [not including Sunday] of the weekend. So unless 100% of the buyers ran home on Saturday night and spent the evening trying to activate[and given the difficulties of the hourlong plus waits, I would say it is safe to projec that at least another 50,000 were sold BY SATURDAY night..making the sum by HALF the weekend equal to at least 200,000 perhaps more. In fact, that amount could easily be tens of thousands even higher, since just how many activations could we expect by Saturday midnight. If the same held true on Sunday [correct me if I am wrong but that would have been a huge shopping day], then another 200,000 -225,000 BUYERS [not activators] would have been added on that day which is not included in the quarterly ATT figures. So the most likely projection for BUYERS FOR THE WHOLE WEEKEND based on ATT numbers would be 400,000 PLUS. This amount would be quite consisent with your and other estimates. Why can't the so-called financial analysts see this?
