This rumor is so imbecile, no one who knows Apple can believe it. Apple has waited for so long till they were able to make the minimal iPhone they wanted to a affordable price. Reduction in price will be possible with falling prices for components. But this iPhone will technologically be the weakest of all.

iPhone Nano = Nano + a simple phone that can sync with your music library and address/calendar book. That's all.
It will happen, because too many of us just want a phone that will play music like our ipod.
But this interface submission just maybe a bit of misdirection or an attempt to narrow the competitions playing field.
Whatever the iPhone Nano turns out to be it will rock; no data plan and unlocked to boot!
