There clearly is AT&T discrimination against iPhone users.
Blackberry users have the option of buying the $65/mo. unlimited global data plan. This is the setup many world-traveling executives use.
iPhone users are not offered this option. It is discrimanatory and an abusive from AT&T.
Not to mention it is myopic of Apple to not demand it from AT&T.

There may be some upcoming changes on international voice/data roaming from Apple.
In the process of the $100 credit to early iPhone customers, the help screens to find the serial number show 4 screenshots, one of which lists two new menu choices - Home Button and International.
Further down, it shows a software version 1.1.1 (3813) and firmware 04.02.04_G. Current #s are 1.0.2 (1C28 ) and 03.14.08_G, respectively.
Anyone knows when the next software/firmware update gonna be?

I'd guess unlimited global data packages are coming for the iPhone. This being Apple's initial foray into the cell phone market I bet they're learning new things every day.
