"The OHA targets Research in Motion, Symbian, Palm, and Microsoft."

Sort of Apple biased opinion and a little off. Three of the four are handset makers, Nokia is largest Symbian user and owner, and use their own proprietary OS just like Apple does. Only Microsoft is a software stack that is widely licensed. Palm was going Linux anyway, maybe they will decide to use OHA in some models.

So will Apple use OHA in some iPhone models? That would go against their philosophy of controlling both hardware and OS.

Gravatar Beanie, where can I find info on the palm OS going Linux? I was kinda liking the Centro since it is similar to my Treo, but the size of an iPhone. Do you think the Centro will get to ATT, cause not all the Treo models made it to them?

Thanks,
Bill [doc]

Gravatar Why is Eric Schmidt director at Apple?
I have not seen any INFO/discussion on this subject which is of particular interest for the combination of efforts between Apple and Google. Ideas are invited for an intelligent analysis of this fact. Eric is a member of the Board of Directors at Apple. WHY, and for what purpose. Is it not a good assumption that it is for converging interests? Could we have some input on this please. Carl do you have something to get out on this subject?

Gravatar Hi Bill,

You can always check Palm's website for information. I think Centro only has 90 day exclusive with Sprint, so after that it could arrive at AT&T.

From the news coming out of Palm, they have been working on a Linux version of Palm OS for a while, maybe years. They have delayed it until 2008. Palm offers both PalmOS and Windows Mobile phones. Linux version would probably be used in place of PalmOS. Microsoft Windows Mobile is suppose to be updated in 2008, also.

Gravatar Thanks beanie. I have seen the iPhone, used it and have a $420 Apple credit, but it lacks features that I need, but the Palm has. Also, I do not use MP3 players and could care less about the web on a tiny screenie. The Palm OS has many medical apps, but a Treo is kinda big. The Centro is similar in size to the iPhone and actually weighs less. It is making me salivate. I may use the Apple credit for a new camcorder for my wife.
Dude, I wish that you were my neighbor.

Thanks.
