I think your first point on DRM puts the nail in the coffin on the subscription idea but your customer satisfaction point is by far the most interesting. The thought of another monthly bill and the fact that I loose everything if I stop paying is more than enough to get me to ignore music subscription services. However, some "more passive music listeners" friends actually like it. Enter your point on incentive to find great music and instead re-package music from the archive. It would be the death of the already-dying industry.

I agree that monthly subscription plans are not realistic and I don't see Apple to change their oponion about that. One area where subscription can work, is the individual movie rental. What can beat the experience of watching the latest movie downloaded to your Apple TV? Apple could keep a rental period of 3 days. I expect Apple to offer such a service in the nearby future. It would boost the sales of Apple TV and related products.
