It amuses me that:
1) the iPhone has already outsold the Zune.
2) the "over-priced" iPhone seems to be selling more of the higher-priced model (though that might simply reflect the early-adopter psyche).
3) MORE modern H.264 on the web; less clunky Flash and primitive WMV and MPG-2 over time, I should think.
Carl: Can one easily access YouTube H.264 video on a regular Mac, or is there some mysterious arrangement that makes it only availble to AppleTV or iPhone users?

Can anyone tell me how Apple will prevent the nightmare of swapping 10 million batteries in the iPhone? Imagine 10 million users giving up their iPhone for 3-5 days? And that's only 1% of the cellphone market Apple is after. Hopefully, version 2 will come with user swappable batteries. Then I'll buy an iPhone.

Paul: "Can anyone tell me how Apple will prevent the nightmare of swapping 10 million batteries in the iPhone?"
Answer:
The iPhone gets 8 hours talk time, and in 400 full-drain charge cycles (about 2 years) will still have 80% of that talk time--which is more than most smartphones start with!
There will be a healthy market for used iPhones and 3rd-party battery kits, but MOST people will have no need of them.
There's a reason devices (not just from Apple) have built-in batteries: it makes the devices both smaller and less breakable. It's not a random "mistake" nor a dark conspiracy. It's the reason an iPhone is thinner AND gets better battery life than other phones.
(Those other short-talk-time phones act like carrying spare batteries is a feature. It's not. The need to care spares is a royal pain.)

I own 5700 shares and I know that Apple will do the home run.

I hate the monopolies that keep the US behind Europe and Asia in consumer use of technology. Steve Jobs is right...the carriers should be nothing but portals.
The busting of the oligophic and restrictive practices by Apple, as usual, will lead to more choices for consumers, freedom from proprietary formats, and a better user experience.
Go Apple!

"Aside from AT&T, what other companies are currently involved in the iPhone platform?"
I would also say that Google and to a smaller amount, Yahoo are involved.

Talking about steve ballmer, have you ever wondered how his office looked like from the inside? The capital of his empire from where he supposedly rules?
