'Cile,
Mother ko is not a good cook. Noong maliit pa ako, I remember gumawa siya ng leche flan for the first time. Whole eggs ang inilagay niya, anong result? parang matigas na puto

Xtine: Happy New Year to you two !!
Thess: Yes it is meant to be - make a leche flan. Hehehe!
Happy New Year to you and your hubby and Charlie pogi!
Duke: Believe me I had several disasters with this leche flan. So yes it's all a matter of trial and error to find the one taste for you. I actually did my aunt's version first but I now find it quite sweet so I had to adjust it to find the soft texture and right balance of sweetness I like.
Angel: Do try it, like what I told Duke above, you've got to try different combinations to get the flan of most agreeable with your taste bud. This one is a bit soft, if you want something firmer maybe reduce the evaporated milk or maybe add a few of the egg whites. Good luck!
mmy-lei: It's not that hard to do. You just need either an oven or steamer and some baking pans.

Whenever I see Leche Flan I am reminded so much of my mom's cooking. Like your family, we usually have this for Fiestas, Christmas and New Year. I tried doing the leche flan on my own without my mom's supervision but it ended up not the same as hers. I guess it takes time and practice to master this. You have to have that certain "feel" which I obviously lack!
Happy New Year!
