Oh I've heard about those, Betty. I think I even clipped a recipe from an American magazine years and years ago. I must give it a try one of these Christmases.

Oh, I adore British-style minced pies. In the USA, the same type of pie is made but usually as a big, 8-serving double-crust pie. That's good too but I find the British version more delicate. Happy Holidays!

Stel: Hello dearie, I think in the old days they actually put in meat in it plus the beef suet.
One with almond paste would certainly taste vedy vedy nice.

mummysang, so why IS it called mincemeat? if it's all just dried fruits and nuts? curious lang, it sounded like a good and tasty treat, thought it was beef suet or something like that.
i have a recipe with almond paste in it, so i might give it a try....happy happy christmas to you and yours!!! mwa mwa mwa.....
