Hmmmmm. I was sort of predicting the same thing around the last election. But we had Kerry, so who needed martial law?

Don't know if you're a fan, but this:

BC...vemeliberty.htm
Was a heck of a comic book that explored this very topic.
Don't know if the link will work, so it's Frank Miller's (of Sin City brief fame) earlier work on a continual president and martial law.
I'm going to have to dig it out and reread it now...

Hey C
Ron Paul ain't your average Republican. He has so often been the lone voice crying in the wilderness as to be mistaken for John the Baptist. Hence in the last gerrymander shenanigans in Texas the Republicans shaved off some of his district to feed him to the Democrats. The Bushies would rather have John Kerry in the House than Ron Paul. And perhaps now you can see why. Gotta love those defenders of the Roman Republic, they’re really my kind of guys. Too bad there’s only one.
Cheers

I think he will step down for the sheer fact he doesn't like doing work. He takes long vacations, 2 hour breaks during the day, he starts late and ends early, and he doesn't work weekends. I am pretty sure he will hop, skip, and jump his way back to texas to clear brush.

It would prompt a military coup, and the military would remove him from office. Without a doubt.
I strongly, strongly doubt that he would try such a thing, but if it were to happen he would end up dead or in Gitmo faster than you can say "Sir, yes sir!"

I agree wholeheartedly with shamanic, there is certainly, both within the military and Secret Service, TRUE patriots whom I am sure would quickly end any attempt to "take over America" by Bushco.
I have to believe that. It must be true. If it is not then my life and the sacrifices I have made for my country would all have been for naught, and everything I ever thought I knew and believed in was just a sham.
That's what Bush and the Rethuglicans in the House of Unrepentant and the Seenot have done to America and all the things this sweet country used to stand for. There has never been a more amoral government IMO.
