Newshoggers Comments

Interesting post.

But two things: First of all India has a 'No-first-Use' policy, which is more than you can say for the US. So in that respect the 'most dangerous place in the world' is whoever tops the US enemies' list.

Second, I agree that the US should look closely at its stance towards the Musharraf dictatorship. Case-in-point: the F-16 sale. This is from Reuters from last week:

" Pakistan, eyeing a landmark $5 billion deal with the United States for the purchase of F-16 fighter jets, said on Monday it was ready to address U.S. fears it would transfer the technology to another country. ..... The State Department announced last week that consultations with lawmakers had been concluded and that formal notification had been given to Congress, paving the way for the deal with U.S. aerospace company Lockheed Martin Corp. to proceed."

Thanks for the great blog by the way.

Gravatar I am from Pakistan and I completely understand whyu you would think that the Paki govt would use ISI to confront India and incite terroe there but most people don't know that ISI is lrgely independent from the main govt body and runs its own operations sometimems throught self-sustained funding. No matter what people think the majority of Muslims around the world DO NOT want war. Thank you

Gravatar i got here from a link from a southasian blog, sepia mutiny. i applaud you for the coverage that you managed to give amidst all the zidane controversy and others amongst all .. getting back to sajid's comments, i understand his feelings but its not to be undermined that its a military rule, with all the strings pulled by mussharaf and his "henchmen". an organisation like isi cannot really survive if the government doesn't want it too .. if you say that it is not related to the government, it still carries out all the hideous acts of terrorism with the ignorance earned from the government. the situation is same everywhere .. not everyone wants a war .. a vast amount of population won't even know the real reasons for going to war ... still the scenario won't really change until organisations like isi and al-qaeda cease to exist ... and absolute rulers like mushharaf are replaced by someone actually elected by the people !!
