Made a comment over at TMV about the Krauthammer op piece. He uses the WWII meme(tied to Holocaust) to fire up the neocon crowd. I compared the Lebanon situation to India/Pakistan and even SriLanka and the TamilTigers, but those don't fit into the WWII/Hitler/Evil BS.
Yep, by neocon logic the Brits should've wiped out the nascent state of Israel after the King David Hotel bombing by Begin's terror group back in the forties. You don't hear them using the Irgun as an example of a terror group that successfully became mainstream, do you?
More on that later. I'm calling it "The Irgun Conundrum".

Any chance Russia could make the list? There are hints the neocons pretend to be more upset over Grozny (Don't google for photographs, seriously) than they are over the the theater, the planes, the hospital hostage thing, the day long shootouts, the carbombs near the subway stations... oh and of course the suicide bombing hostage takers in a Beslan school.
Now I know Russia has some oil and gas left, isn't a big fan of the west messing with former soviet states, has an FSB agent as a dictator and a former oil privatization profiteer everyone wants to see out of jail and in power even more than people want to see the former US oil baron out of power.... But downplaying Beslan is still pretty low, even for people who admit to sticking to “the big game” of strategically toppling world leaders rather than “fighting” any and all who use terrorist tactics....or who harbour them.
And the neocon crowd is often pretty forceful about “not being with the terrorist” themselfs.
