I always thought that one ought to be able to make one's opponent's argument for him, if called on to do so. That way one knows all of the argument's weaknesses.

Also, the very uncertainty of only saying that "we don't know for sure" drives the fear that we have to do something right now.
Refer Mr. Shuler to Cheney's "One Percent Doctrine." To the warmongers in charge, uncertainty itself is sufficient reason for immediate action and not cautious restraint.

I commend you on your intellectual honesty C. even though I'm solidly with Dave here. It's possible to think starting a war with Iran is a really, really bad idea while not giving the regime in Teheran the benefit of the doubt on the intentions behind it's nuclear program( which, frankly, it doesn't deserve - having been caught and then grudgingly come clean ain't the same thing as never having cheated in the first place.
