In fact Iran has offered to place additional limits on its enrichment program, beyond its legal obligations, to further ensure that the centrifuges cannot be used to make highly-enriched uranium. The offers have been ignored by the US which claims that Iran shouldn't even have the knowledge of nuclear technology.

LOL - As signatories of the NPT knowledge is allowed. The AIPAC wing his screaming foe elBareidis head, even though Israel didn't sign. The international Reuters sources report without the US/AIPAC slant.

But an International Atomic Energy Agency report said in August Iran remained well short of 3,000 centrifuges functioning and that its rate of enrichment was still far below capacity.

The crooks and liars are out with their dog and pony show, elevating the threat levels of none existent dangers.

BTW; Prather is a nuclear physicist, but hey, what would a nuclear physicist know?
It is sickening to watch the total destruction of any and all international institutions, while coach and horses are driven through any and all treaties.

This one was too close to bigotry and anti-semitism for my taste. Deleted comment. Regards, C

It is is important to note that 4.5% enriched uranium in more than 80% of the way to 90% enriched bomb uranium.
Enrichment works in a counterintuitive way. To go fron less than 1% enriched natural uranium to 4% Low Enriched Uranium is incredibly more difficult than going from 4% to 90% Highly Enriched Uranium.
The former takes years, the latter takes weeks.

The reason that's counterintuitive is because it's crap.
To enrich to 4% LEU takes in the order of 12,000 Seperative Work Units (SWU) - the measure used of the energy required. To enrich to 90% uses 27,500 SWU, over twice as much. Given the same energy input, it will take over twice as long to go from 4% to 90% as from NU to 4%.

It only takes twice as much energy and time, though. But still, that's not quite weeks instead of years. Another wingnut hyperbole bites the dust.
