Gravatar "Are we in the West Bank?" asked Abu Qusay

Sometimes a single sentence slices through all the ill-informed BS, all the manufactured propaganda, and all the frantic arm waving to deeply cut into the heart of Arab perception...

And yet, the most hated injustice in all of Arab culture is now vividly conjoined with America's experiment in "democracy" for all to see. Six simple words spews forth a pornography of imagery in the collective Arab/Muslim mind unparalleled even in the blood caked streets of Iraq. We theoretically could have accomplished a worse outcome, but it is difficult to understand how...

Gravatar You can't win hearts and minds until you get the situation to a reasonable level of security. If walls are what it takes, then so be it.

Gravatar Chas,

The army counter-insurgency manual, co-written by Petraeus, disagrees with you. So does the experience of the Brits in Ireland and many other similiar experiences. You can't get security unless you win hearts and minds.

Regards, C

Gravatar The suggestion is made by some people who do not understand how people think in that region. This wall make Iraq looks like Palestine and it means to deprieve them from their freedom. It makes the people even poorer (because it is more difficult to live and work in different areas) and then for every problem the wall and Americans would be blamed. I see the time that Iraqis celebrate demolition of the wall, just like Germans.
The wall means being in prison in their own motherland.
