Caught a bit of it, and I agree with you. I still find Huckabee to be the most scary, because he almost looks and sounds sane. The actual views are crazy, but he has a slick salesman persona that the media will promote as "real American" and the general public will buy. This election isn't in the bag yet.

Huckabee scares me too. But I think he would be the one most likely to self-destruct in the general. Romney scares me more. I watched him win the MA governor's race and that was one he should have lost.

If global warming is that important of a topic, why not let the candidates actually talk about it, rather than just ask for a quick show of hands.
The moderator sucked. Big time.
Let's see how easy she makes things on the Dem's tomorrow.

The other thing to keep in mind is this: if one's position on global warming can be summed up by a quick show of hands, why did it take Al Gore an entire movie to explain his position?
I just wish there was more dialogue and more time. It's not fair to the candidates to only have 30-60 seconds to answer a question (it was actually two questions in one) which can't be answered fully and accurately with a simple "yes" or "no" answer.

You can't cover everything in 90 minutes Jeff. As I said, the format wasn't perfect but I like that they had all the candidates for the most part answer the same questions.
In terms of the climate Q, given that it's a too big an issue to do it justice in such a limited format, I thought the handraise was a good way to get them on record. It was a simple yes or no question. Do you believe it's a serious problem or not? There was no implication of causation in the Q, so what's the problem, really?

I think it shows how little credibility you have when you have ANYTHING good to say about Alan Keyes. What a moron. Why was he even there?
And, that moderator was extremely rude. Perhaps the worst I've ever seen in ANY debate. Yeah, some of them ramble on too much -- but, what can you learn about ANYONE with just 30 second quips?

Yeah BC, Libby described him as as coming across like an axe murderer. That's a hell of a nice thing to say about Keyes. She should be ashamed of herself
Did you even read the post?
Sheesh...drive-by commenters.

Astounding. I saw a comment somewhere else that accused me of liking Keyes. Crazy.
Meanwhile, I do seem to be the only person on earth who liked Washburn's moderation. I guess because I'm old and it reminded me of the formats they used to use in the 'old days.'
