What about this from the WaPo:
U.S. officials say they place a premium on "force protection," but they refuse to detail how they are combating the mortar and rocket problem, saying such information could help the attackers. But an indication of the measures being taken came late Saturday when U.S. Apache helicopters fired on insurgents preparing to fire rockets at the Green Zone from the east, near the Shiite stronghold of Sadr City. Four insurgents were killed, and 10 rockets and a van were destroyed in the attack, the U.S. military said in a statement. It said six insurgents were tracked back to a residence in Sadr City, where they were apprehended.
Seems that some of the mortars raining on the Emerald City come from Sadr City. The Iranians killed Kennedy, they were on the grassy knoll.

Bomb or No bomb, what they really are asking is, let us bury our heads in the sand. Things will happens and the dust will eventually settle. why bother?
just to posit another possible explanation for increasingly effective green-zone attacks: the american-amred and american-trained iraqi military.
...which further undercuts the iran "meddling" argument. not only have we dammaged iraq more than tehran ever could have, but we've even done more than anyone else in the world to arm our enemies in iraq (while simultaneously creating them) by throwing untold billions and hundreds of thousands of AK47s to a national military that never actually seems to have existed. ho hum.
I'm sure that four years to practice has absolutely nothing to do with the increased skill...
"Accurate" fire actually suggests better firing coordinates, which implies inflitration of the Emerald City by Iraqis associated with the insurgency/factions/militias etc.
This well documented problem is just being reframed by the machine as "obvious" evidence of Iranian evil doing.
If the very best Iranian (or American or anyone else) mortar/rocket teams were to hit the green zone, they would STILL need to know exactly where to hit. Otherwise, "area fire" in the big green zone is about the most that could be achieved.
