The burning question is what the US is going to do when Pakistan gives nothing but lip service, as per usual. Both countries seem to be deadlocked into this gradually deteriorating situation. Pakistan is suffering blowback from the fighting the monster the militants have become, and the US can't at all afford to lose Pakistan even as a nominal ally.
