Now, with many on the Right beginning to see that Iraq is a Gordian Knot of Bush's creation...
If I were one of those on the right, and had even the vaguest knowledge of the region's history -- Victor Davis Hanson, say -- this would suggest to me a solution similar to Alexander's. He allegedly cut the original knot, in the process, destroying it. Iraq is whole lot bigger than a knot, so you'd probably have to use something a whole lot bigger than a sword. I say, "Nook 'em! Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iraq; Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iraq; Bomb Ira-aq. Bomb Ira-aq." Until, like right wingers advocated doing in Indochina, we are just rearranging the debris.
Not being on the right, I agree that we should leave.

Hi marcel,
Yep. My point is they tried Alexander's solution to the original knotty problem of the Middle east and all they got was a bigger and more tangled knot.
For all so many of the neocons pretend to be classicists, they really don't get the era. To cut a Gordian Knot, you need a sword...and an Alexander.
If you don't have an Alexander - and Bush fer sure isn't an Alexander - then you have to sit down and patiently try to unravel the whole thing with no swords whatsoever.
