Newshoggers Comments

Gravatar Probably not alone, though they seem perfectly willing to attack the message, too. It's easy when you're not too worried about those pesky facts and such.

I think the outrage itself is mainly because they've been outraged for so long about so many things that it's just become a comfortable default position for them, whether or not whatever their current outrage target happens to be, is actually worthy of it.

Gravatar I have to admit I was a bit shocked at some of the response to the Nobel Committee's announcement this morning. Christ Gore has been at this since before the first Bush's WH stay. And he seems to have been correct and persistent and it does have something to do with peace if providing security is anyway linked to peace or stability.

Glad you mentioned the IPCC connection. India seems a bit pleased with the fact that the unassuming Dr. Pachauri is a native. In fact they refer to the IPCC as Pachauri's IPCC:

A bit or a sorry state that the crazed-brigade has such little national pride that they wouldn't celebrate Gore's international recognition.

Gravatar Sure, to some degree the right likes to attack Gore, and they also use this as a distraction. However, if there was no Al Gore they would still make the same claims in denying global warming.

It's not as if this is the only case in which they deny science. There's a large overlap between global warming deniers and creationists.

The problem isn't even limited to science. These are the same people who claim that Saddam threatened us with WMD and was behind 9/11.

They are out of touch with reality. We'd hear outrageous things from them regardless of whether Gore was involved.

Gravatar Absolutely. Shock jocks have managed to morph their distorted focus from global warming denial to embracing the notion as a natural cycle in progress for thousands of years. Oddly, no one notices that the argument has done a 180. The implication, of course, is that human contributions are inconsiquential. I listen to this crap almost daily on AM radio from two or three sources and am mystified at the moral depravity and lack of civic responsibility displayed by flag-waving, self-proclaimed conservatives and libertarians. It's an exercise in rhetoric, not reason.
