A large majority of Americans think we should be out of Iraq in a year. Period. Democrats in the Senate reflect that consensus. Hiatt claims a majority of senators and the president share this view, although they use words like “hope to be out”---or “would like to be”. Hiatt is apparently incapably of seeing a difference of opinion here even though the president has been “hoping” to be out of Iraq ever since he declared victory four years ago.

Making distinctions like this isn’t Hiatt’s strong suit. As I recall he had difficulty distinguishing between bin Laden and Saddam five years ago.

Steve - if there was a law against journalistic malfeasance, Hiatt would be in jail on a life sentence.
