Bill and Hillary have always been shitty salesmen for core liberal values. Whether they want liberalism is irrelevant. They’ve never been able to get anyone else to want it, and have adopted their style of governance accordingly.
And that’s the point of the Obama mailing. The Clintons haven’t done anything to create brand value.

Thing is, Obama sometimes seems to me to be quite as much of a triangulator and odd Dem salesman as Bill -- at least on issues like social security, health care, Reagan era of ideas, etc. I'm not sure whether the Obama organizers out there are organizing around Dem brand value or Obama brand value.
