The old Shah pic is a great find. And Iran's desire for nuclear power is actually quite logical. Using oil to generate electricity is inefficient and as Iran becomes more modern, the demand for electricity increases.

One interest the US DOESN'T have is in Nuclear Reactor manufacturing. Despite having twice as many nuclear powerpants as any other nation ( and about 40% oof the worlds total). The US hasn't been "in the market" for at least 30 years (?). My small point here being that this lack of vested interest allows other interests to assert themselves more fully in the shaping of policy.
