Gravatar I wouldn't read too much into the DHS funding cameras in rural backwaters. They're just spreading money around red states to thank them for voting GOP.

Gravatar The point is anon, it's money not spent on securing actual vulnerable targets. They're not supposed to use our tax dollars for payola.

Have we become so complacent about corruption that we won't draw the line somewhere? Congress passes out plenty of pork. DHS shouldn't be in that business. We may as well disband it if they mismanage the job this badly.

Completely shagged-out, more like, and there's still more to come!.
I wouldn't want to deny Liberty, Kansas the benefits of 21-st Century technology--after all a camera might be very helpful should the town horse and the village dog have some otherwise unwitnessed ontretemps at the crossroad--but it seems to me a $500 exterior web-cam would do the trick.

Gravatar LOL Britisher. Of course, the thing is Liberty KS is more likely to use that camera to bust kids for smoking pot or making out in the park than they are to catch a terrorist. It's just one step closer to total government control over the use of public spaces.
