Yep, fixed it, but Blogger is killing me - taking forever to publish. Hopefully it'll get straight in a minute or two.
So far, so good, though, eh?

How did Caldwell drop that?
And Gaffney makes right up for it!

that challenge was the perfect breather for a tired d after a quick strike score. While Dungy had to do it, that worked out very nicely

Wow...Defense is completely gassed. Gonna be very tough to pull this one out. It's on Mr. Brady's shoulders.

Apparently I don't know what pass interference is. I think he stole Caldwell's (or whoever's) wallet on that one.

I guess we had to see that coming. Brady is human. So anyone want to sing the praises of our recieving corps now? So looking to next year, we need LBs, DBs, WRs, and safetys. I hope this wasn't the end of the dynasty, but it sure looks like it.
P.S. How does an NFL player get "fatigued" or "cramps". I don't care how hot it is, you're being paid millions. You better be in shape for it. As far as I'm concerned, being paid a thousand times my salary means you be in shape. Screw you Artrell Hawkins.

No issues with some of the play calling here? We knew we needed 7... Heath Evans draw? And then no timeout on the Colts 1st and goal run... that is one of the worst Belichick moves ever! Someone explain that logic to me. That ran 45 seconds off the clock- whether they score a TD or a FG there, time is crucial, and we could always get to the line and spike the ball in less than 45 seconds should we have an opportunity for a game tying FG

Then again... Hunter Smith salavages two horrible snaps to convert AV field goals and we let Harrison catch the 2 pt conversion after excellent pressure on the QB... pts went their way today. I would have rather been beat from the outset than pulled this collapse

No shame at all in this one. One of the best games in a long, long time. Hopefully Manning relearns his losing ways two weeks from now.

won't whine about losing because the Colts won fair & square. that doesn't mean i don't hope the Bears find a way to pull off a win in Miami. i would kind of like to see Urlacher set sights on a few guys on the Indy offense right now. i think i will live vicariously through him in two weeks.

The Colts are a really bad matchup for the Pats at the moment. Once they figured out they could dink and dunk at will on the Pats LBs, there was no stopping them. And Eric Alexander, bless him for the effort, is little more than a special teams player.
Of course, the Pats have some strategic questions hanging over them for the first time since Belichick has been here. Even Charlie Weis would think the Evans draw was too cutesy. The point about not using a timeout after Indy's first run was dead-on. And the Pats committed stupid penalties at terrible times. The magnitude of the game is kind of sinking in now - it's tough to have perspective when I'm trying to keep up on the keyboard - and it's pretty apparent that they did some things to aid the Colts' effort.

Maybe it's just me and maybe I'll get my face punched in for saying it, but I couldn't help but think of the Red Sox in the 2004 ALCS when I saw the Colts today. Think about it. The Pats have tormented the Colts endlessly and owned them. Just like the Yankees to the Red Sox. They were down by 18 points....the Red Sox were down 3-0. Both situations, I'd think, were like next to impossible. But both teams prevailed against their tormentor. Peyton Manning was just the result of a drunken romp between Johnny Damon(his love affair w/ the media), Derek Lowe(hard luck loser part), and Seabiscuit(need I really explain this?). But then again, I could care less about football so my argument is basically bunk. I dunno I just couldn't help but think it when
And now you can all punch me in the face

interesting how the supposedly classless patriots were so gracious and congratulatory towards the colts--obvious respect there. and equally obvious that the chargers are obnoxious and not deserving of that kind of respect. keep crying LT, roid boy will carry you back to your nursery.

On the Evans draw, you've got to remember there are five minutes left, it's third and 10, you're on the fringe of field goal range, and you haven't stopped the Colts from scoring since the middle of the second quarter. You need any points you can get, and if that means running a draw -- a play that was plenty successful earlier -- to make the kick a little bit easier, you've gotta do it.
The series I thought was more poorly managed was the one that followed the Colts' punt after it was 34-31. Two first downs and the game is over, and even if the chains don't move the Pats have to kill at least two minutes in that situation, or at least run the Colts out of timeouts. Instead they take less than 1:30, leave Indy with a T.O. and commit a silly 12-men penalty. All that reflects poorly on the offensive coordinator.
Can't blame him entirely, though.

My problem wasn't so much with the draw, but with the fact that it was Heath Evans on the draw. I suppose that was a result of the injury to Faulk, but a back like Evans isn't going to pick up close to 10 yards if the defense is at all suspicious it is coming. And they were suspicious.
The Raiders' interest in Josh McDaniels is further confirmation that Oakland has no friggin' idea what they are doing.

Chad, on your comment on the Hobbs PI penalty in the end zone:
There is no penalty for faceguarding in the NFL. That's per a chat with the NFL's head of officiating a few years ago. There must be contact to draw a flag. There was none: Hobbs did nothing wrong by faceguarding there and he never touched the receiver. Tha zebras blew the call.

Is that true? You always see flags thrown when a DB has his back to the ball. Either way, I'm more agitated by the missed pass interference on Caldwell in the end zone.

I believe you Chad are mixing up two different rules... You may have contact with the reciever if you are turned around " playing the ball".. Thats the rule you see flagged quite a bit..
You havent seen the no look back facegaurding called.. because it ISNT a penalty.

Let me just go on record saying that Asante Samuel needs to be held onto. Regardless of the outcome, he was about the biggest factor in the game. He just flat out came up big.

I know my comment comes several days late, but they don't allow internet access at betty ford. Great post, Chad, sorry I didn't get you the pics in time. I was, at first, drinking too much from the sheer joy of the first half, and then in a bar downtown indy called, no lie, "Rock Bottom" after the second half. I can only now sit back and hope Belichick's long-standing deal with Satan includes a 2008 trip to the valley of the sun!
