You're right, too.

The problem with Guantanamo is not the isolation -- though long-term sensory deprivation and isolation can be considered torture under many definitions -- but the sui generis legal position which the Administration is asserting for the prisoners. And it seems like the only way to break the logjam on legal definitions is to literally move the grounds of the debate.
