I, too, have switched to Mobipocket. Not only does it allow for easy subscription to news services, but you can also add your own feeds, and it's a great eBook reader, as well. I have long used it as an eBook reader, and only added it as a news reader with AvantGo's demise. I find that it works best if you download the Mobipocket Desktop reader and use it to subscribe to news feeds. It then syncs easily every time you HotSync your device.
I think the biggest problem will be when Palm folds -- which unfortunately seems inevitable. What will people like us do, then? There is just no substitute.
Mobipocket is 'ok' at reformatting web content for my Smartphone. But it's not nearly as good as AvantGos UI.
