Silvia: the post seems to me like a rant against our Economy as a whole. I am old enough to remember the misery index of President Carter's administration, so I know a poor economy when I see it (hint: we're not in one now). So long as the US still drives the economy of the world, we're not in any massive trouble. Sixteen years ago I travelled to UK on business: the going rate then was $1.70 to BPS1, yet this wasn't considered 'worrisome'.

All too often, people talk down the economy, particularly in election years, and far too often succeed!
