Gravatar Thanks!!! And would you believe that the fabric store in our area just advertised their Annual Quilter's Sale--this week only--20% off everything! May daughter and I are heading there tomorrow with your list in hand.

I hope this will be sew-w-w easy!

Gravatar Randi, what day do we need to have the supplies by?

I really like your fabrics, thanks for the tip about differing patterns too, I didn't know that!

Adrienne

Gravatar Adrienne,
I am going to post the first set on instructions on Monday so you might want to have them by then.

Gravatar One quick question: Will our machines need a quilting foot? My machine has needed one for a long time, and I've put off getting one. But now is maybe the time?

Gravatar Deb,

If you want to machine-quilt it at the end you will need one. But you also have the option of hand-quilting or tying the quilt.

I think I may get a walking-foot because I have never tried machine-quilting and I would like to learn.

Gravatar Hi! I just came across you blog via Heth's blog (From Under the Laundry Pile). I like to quilt, too. In fact, today and on 1/13 on my blog, I posted pics of the finished quilt gifts I made before Christmas!

A month or 2 ago I made a cover for one of our living room pillows in an around the world pattern using the pinwheels you're putting in your quilt. I took a 4 week class to learn to make a wall quilt about 5 years ago, and that's the only quilting class I've had, but I've made quite a few quilts since then, some wall quilts, baby quilts, and twin size quilts. Right now I'm making my 3YO DS a Spiderman quilt for his bed. It's all pieced but I have to pin the layers together and quilt it.

When I started quilting, I did machine quilting, but I have an old sewing machine that was my mom's when she was young so it doesn't have a walking foot, and the back fabric would get all bunched up when I tried to quilt, so I've taken to hand quilting. I don't do anything fancy though, usually just quilting in the seams where the fabric is pieced together.

Sorry for the book I wrote! I guess I was just excited to come across your blog and find that you quilted and were going to be giving online instructions! I'll be sure to visit your blog again!

Gravatar I am not joining this challenge...but I love the colors your chose and can't wait to see some of the finsihed products!

Gravatar Thanks Randi for putting this together so nicely. Hopefully I can head to the store Saturday and pick up what I need.
I'm looking forward to this!

Gravatar This looks like fun. I am still pondering. I really like the fabrics you have chosen. I have always wanted a pinwheel quilt...hmmmmm...I'm thinkin' on it....

Gravatar Great! I'll get shopping before the week is out.
Picking a good color scheme will be fun!

Crissy

Gravatar Thanks for the ideas and info on materials needed for the quilt. I actually have most of the fabric that I want to use for this project. I usually pick up 1/4 yd fabrics when I see them on sell... and wouldn't you know it... they all seem to go together well too. Probably b/c I tend to pick pinks and purples becuase they are my favorite colors. As soon as I can, I will post my fabric choices on my blog. Maybe this weekend... check soon. Thanks again for doing this Randi.

Gravatar I wasn't going to do this...I have too many unfinished projects to keep me busy. But this just looks like so much fun...count me in! I'll shop this weekend and be ready to roll on Monday.

One question...do you recommend any particular rotary cutter and mat? I don't have one and want to buy a good one (but not too expensive if I can help it). Thanks!

Gravatar Hi Catherine,

I use Omnimat-Mat and Fiskers-rotary cutters. Usually you can buy a packaged set that has all the average size pieces. My mat measures about 18X24. Don't buy the tiny rotary cutter-it doesn't work as well.

I am glad you are joining us!

Gravatar I'm going to save these posts. Oh, to have an extra $25 to spare!

Gravatar Thanks for the wonderful list, this is JUST what I needed...detailed instructions!:^)
I think all I need it a rotary cutter, and fabric and batting... I'm off to the store now, and will post pics of my fabrics as soon as I get a chance!
Q: What about thread? Will we be using one color througout? What should it match?

Gravatar Hi Beth,

Match your thread color to your background fabric since it is your most-used color.

Gravatar Thanks Randi~
I thought I'd pop in and let you know that I've posted a pic of our fabrics. I'll *see you* here tomorrow, for the quilting circle! :^) *snip*snip*

Gravatar Hey Randi,

I'm an avid quilter and won't be able to join you in this fun little project but had to comment anyway. I was just thinking today about doing a pinwheel quilt! Anyway, it's a great idea and I just wanted to encourage you and bless all those quilting along with you.

Have fun!!

Gravatar I found your site through Journeying...by grace alone and I have enjoyed checking out the different sites to see all the fabics everyone is choosing! I have wanted to learn to quilt for awhile now, but don't have a sewing machine so I am going to follow you all through this and enjoy watching them become beautiful quilts!
