Hey Ladies, I am not joining you in this quilting venture but I am here to cheer you on. You will be my inspiration to one day make my own quilt.
When/if you get tired, frustrated or overwhelmed, just know that you have a prayer warrior on your side!
I look forward to seeing the finished projects.

Hi Randi! Thanks for being so prompt and posting the directions first thing this morning! Your instructions look great--I needed pictures to show me how!
My daughter decided to do a quilt along with me...so you have an extra student joining the group.
Our quilt colors are posted on our blog here:

Randi,
Great instructions! You make this look so easy that I think I could do it....sometime (summer?). I have always wondered how to get the fabric cut straight. I have several table cloths I would like to shorten.
I love the colors you chose. Very pretty!
Thanks!

Wow! I am going to love reading how this all works and see how it all comes together.
I have wanted to learn to quilt for a long time but I am afraid right now I don't have much time to devote to it. I will definitely be checking in regularly to see the progress!
What a great idea Randi!

Wowee! Guess I better get busy! There is much to do this week!
Although, I must say that I am having a hard time devoting all of my attention to the quilt this week... I am much to distracted by all my interviews this week! Yay, maybe by the end of this week I will have a job and all my little squares done! Now that would be a good week!
Thanks again for the great post! Thanks for the great pictures... I needed that.

Randi, you are such a saint to do this. I'm not joining in this...yet. I do plan to bookmark this page, though, and come back to it when I've finished remodeling my bathroom (one project at a time!). I've saved all four of my kids' sentimental baby clothes, and I plan to cut triangles out of them and use this patter to make a quilt for myself.

Randi... A question?
I am worried I will not have enough fabric. My quilt quarters are 18x20in. I have 8 of those. Will this fabric make enough squares do you think? I'm sure there is some great math quotient to figure out how many I can get but my brain isn't working that quickly tonight. I noticed your different color fabrics seem longer than mine. What do you think?

Randi!!!
This is awesome! (And I don't throw that word around lightly) What a wonderful idea and how well executed. As a long time, prolific quilter myself, I can really appreciate, not only the amount of work involved, but the precision!
I won't be quilting along with you this time, but I will reading along and acting as a cheerleader!
To all the ladies who are participating: Have fun--you have a wonderful teacher.

A quick question on this one. ok - two.
1) Do you backstitch when sewing on either side of the line???
2) Do you do one side of the kite string first and then the other?
oooh make it 3
3) Do you match your thread to your background fabric???

hi Shelley,
No need to back stitch
Yes, do one side of all the pieces and then turn around your kite string and do the other--this is very efficient and quick!
Match your background fabric OR your most dominant color (generally this is the back ground
Have fun sewing!

Things are going great.
Just ironing and cutting, which hopefully will get done today. I will probably have some questions on lesson 2. But will email when I get there.
Looking good.
Thanks again.
