Gravatar Randi, I am the same way. It shows we are confindent in our choices and that is my favorite kind of HSer. Clarice

Gravatar I completely understand how not blogging about homeschooling can happen. I find myself overlooking that side many times, because its such a part of our lives, that at times it doesnt seem very bloggable..lol However, I get most of my emails concerning that, so I try to add it in from time to time.

Ive been reading through your posts, and I have to say congratulations on raising a daughter that is ready for such independence Randi! I would have mixed feelings too, but obviously you are doing many things right. Good for you!

Gravatar I switched our "together" subjects to the morning this year, too. (Bible, read-aloud, Science, History, Spanish) But my reason is different. Last year, we did math, grammar, reading - the MUST-DO stuff in the morning. So when I was tired, it was very easy to let those other things fall by the wayside. Now, we do those things first - because there's no way I'm going to skip math, grammar, and reading. It's worked, too - this is the first year that we are still on schedule with science and history, Bible and read-aloud time by this point in our year. Yes, Spanish has fallen off a little, but it's still a huge improvement over last year!

Gravatar I have really worked on tweaking the schedule to make it work for us this year. Here's something I posted earlier about it: http://campclan.blogspot.com/200...chool- daze.html.

I have to do my one-on-one time in the morning, while I'm still awake!

Gravatar That's what is so great about getting advice from friends - they can look at it from an entirely different perspective and come up with something brilliant!
This is a great tip - something I can file away for when I have more children and an even busier schedule. (Is it really possible?)

Gravatar Isn't it funny how the obvious is often times the last thing we see.

Glad things are running smooth again.

I can't get a response from Dani on how the fund raiser turned out. I'm heading to her blog next, perhaps the answer is there. If not, would you give me an update?!

Gravatar Okay, Dani did post. How exciting for her. God is soo good!

Gravatar Isn't it funny how sometimes things can be right in front of us and we don't see it?

Gravatar I just had a friend tell me about a similar thing this week. They always have dinner at 5:30 and one day it wouldn't work. The three adults in the home were racking their brains, trying to figure out who could be home to get dinner on and who (if anyone) would be there at 5:30 to eat. Finally, after a day of trying to figure it out, one of them said "Hey! What if we eat at...six?!" Worked perfect. And they all felt dumb for not thinking about it earlier.

Gravatar I also do my "must do" subjects first. That way if we have to push History or Latin or Science off to another day we can...

And I also try to finish everything by lunch. Some days we do, some days not.

Gravatar To quote my sister Ann, "Homeschool isn't something you do. It's a way of life." *Smile*

Gravatar I love this post and all the commments. I write about homeschool often because I have a large percentage of my readers dealing with Learning Disabled kids and wondering how to teach them. It also helps keep me on track.

I hae a siter who homeschooled 12 children for 24 years. I asked her why she never speaks of homeschooling. You know what her answer was? "Well Mrs darling , do you ever hear me speak of breathing?"

I suppose this is what you are actually experiencing....homeschooling as naural as breathing.

Gravatar Sometimes the solution is so clear when it's told us from a wise friend. I'm so glad you've found a stress-relieving solution!

Thanks for sharing your emotions about your daughter moving out. At this stage in the game, it seems unfathomable to me that my kids will ever be independent :o) but I know those days are coming.

Gravatar I used to get so flustered about HOW we were going to get the schoolwork done when we had other activities that took up a couple of hours of what is normally book time. Finally, I learned that it doesn't matter at what time you get it done as long as you are able to enjoy the extra curriculuar field trip AND enjoy doing the book work together later. I feel so much more relaxed now when we have "field trips".

Gravatar I just posted about my first experience trying to do school with more than one child. I'm amazed by your 13 years of teaching your children (well really more than that...) and loved to hear about your discovery. Sometimes a bit of change in schedule is all it takes!

Gravatar Isn't a different point of view wonderful sometimes? Someone looking from the outside in is all it takes! Yeah for you! What a great victory!

Gravatar That sounds good and my tween is interested but the links you sent say nothing about a homeschooling feature. They just mention what states they will be in.There doesn’t seem to be any questions that give a person the chance to mention homeschooling either. Any ideas who to contact there? Thanks for the post about it too! Thanks for sharing
once again.
