Gravatar I've posted some possible electoral scenarios on my blog. Isn't it crazy that the true conservatives, at least from a fiscal standpoint, are now the so-called "tax and spend" Democrats? Modern Democrats are non-interventionists in their foreign policy stances and in favor of paying down the debt and balancing the budget. The only real "liberalism" in the Democratic Party is in regards to civil liberties and social freedoms, and thankfully, that thread of liberalism/civil libertarianism is very strong, a fact for which I am immensely grateful. Though really, should I say "we" instead of "modern Democrats" at this point given my recent change in self-identification?

Especially given Barry Goldwater's later expressed views on gay rights, "Mr. Conservative" himself would feel very comfortable in today's Democratic Party, and that's a point you never hear these days. I've long opined that Barry Goldwater would be disgusted to see what became of his party, but the last few years have changed my mind. He wouldn't be disgusted with the GOP anymore. He would be absolutely horrified, and rightfully so.

Gravatar Yeah, the party is unrecognizable since Reagan invited the Fundies in. It pleases me greatly that the very crazies whose votes he courted were responsible for stopping stem cell research. Yes, I'm that petty in my hatred of that man and those hypocritical, self-righteous little prigs.

Gravatar Glad you're back.

Gravatar Thanks, Cynthia!

Gravatar How dare you not worship at the altar of Saint Ronnie, The Greatest American EverŪ!

Gravatar Just wanted to stop by and say Hello. Believe it or not, I am religious to a point and really looked at my beliefs after a catholic blogger stopped by earlier this morning.

I let his comment stand because I felt everybody should have the founding principals of the USA. Wow, wish he could respect my beliefs as much as I would fight for his...

This was refreshing to see as I seen this post after placing my newest post.

Gravatar Saint Reagan
I haven't managed to urinate on that grave yet, but God willing I will before I die.

Gravatar "Had enough of this already?" Blasphemy! America is in such deep doodoo because we've shut Jesus out of our lives. Repent

Gravatar Jesus loves you Candace.

Gravatar Fred and Candace, give me conservatives like Goldwater or Eisenhower any old day. The GOP of today would indeed be unrecognizeable to guys like them due to the influx of all the crazies in the last 30 years.

Author Kevin Phillips aptly describes the GOP as the nation's first religious political party. I think he is correct. There are plenty of conservatives out there who don't want America to become a theocracy, and I think they need to police their beloved Republican party a bit before it breaks into pieces.

Candace, that is a nearly-hilarious illustration. If it wasn't so eerily close to being the truth I would be laughing out loud!
