I think this another example of the need for what you called "Insensitivity Training."

The same people get upset by the use of the N-word by the villain (the villain!) of TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. That has gotten the book banned in many places, including a township school system in this area.

Oops. Sandra -- to be fair, the villain is not the only person to use the n-word in Mockingbird, as I recall. But your larger point is right on -- it's a great book and a great lesson about the evil of racism and's it's silly to miss that forest for the trees.

Good thing the white liberal establishment got them to worry about the "n" word. If they had any free time they might wake up and realize that they have been put back into slavery.
BTW - slaves in the 1800's couldn't vote. Black people in the year 2003 can't vote unless its for a liberal democrat. My my - the more things change.........

Peace, all.
Kudos for Twain, first of all. Second, black people can't even vote for moderate southern democrats in Florida, especially if they're running for president.

Todd,
How can you invoke peace and then make inflammatory, untrue statements like that? If you want peace, work for justice, which includes refraining from detraction.
Look, your guy lost in that election. His pissing and moaning about it after the fact did not change it then and it does not change it now. Get over it and move on.
An independent commission could not find one voter who could prove that he had been disenfranchised. That commission was headed by Donna Brazille. Where there's no proof, and strong assertions such as yours, there is merely conspiracy, nothing more.

Peace, Brian.
"If you want peace, work for justice, which includes refraining from detraction."
I never saw that one on the bumper sticker before. Hmm.
"Look, your guy lost in that election. His pissing and moaning ..."
Actually I thought Ralph took the high road on his third-place finish. He didn't expect to win the election at all. I haven't voted Dem for president in ages. Last person who came close was John Anderson.
I thought the commission was very critical of Florida. There's sure going to be a lot of scrambling around to make sure they get it right in 2004. That will be evidence enough for me that the process was broke and needed fixing. Hopefully, they'll have more up-to-date felon lists, too.
