If I remember correctly, the "Benjamin Franklin" quote is actually a fabrication by a Nazi propagandist.
Notice also that where the original quote speaks of "Jews" this version makes Franklin speak of "Zionists" - no doubt to maintain the "house style" of this piece.

I agree with Hibernicus. Even a casual reader knows that the word "Zionist" was unknown in Franklin's time. In fact, most of our wonderful "-ist" words were unknown in his time.

Except for "Deist", a word that was known by Franklin, but perhaps not by these delightful crypto-sedevacantists. (Another cool "-ist" word!)

So Radtrads lie? What else is new? They just do the work of their Master called HaSatan in the Hebrew.

Radtrads claim they believe Jews should accept Yeshua(Jesus) & His Church. Yet they seem to bend over backwards to make Jesus in their OWN offensive image. So that any Jew would find the idea of belief in Jesus hateful because they mistake the Radtrad's Anti-Semitic hate for the True Catholic Faith.

May Their godless efforts & the memory of them be blotted out!

B'Shem HaBen Miriam!

Ciaccio -- Yemach shemo! (May his name be obliterated!)

These people filled with hate. Every orthodox catholic should disavow them loudly.

I don't know if a Catholic can pray
"May his name be obliterated!" The "obliteration" means bloting his name out of the Book of Life. I don't think a Catholic an pray for damnation even of a Radtrad neo-Marcionite. However you could maybe say "Let his Name be obliterated". But you must desire the salvation of all.

Unless you are Jewish Jonathan then just forget what I said it doesn't apply to you.

PS That's why I prayed for the Radtrad efforts to be blotted out.
They are the enemies of God's True Church.

If anyone wants to learn more about the Benjamin Franklin quote, which, as has been pointed out, is a forgery, and, at the same time, learn that the much maligned ADL can actually be quite useful:

The late Father Leonard Feeney plays a very minor role.

Best,
Neil

Excellent point, ben Yaakov.

No, I'm only an "honorary Jew," having sung for the Jewish Temple each of the last ten High Holy Days. It gives one a wonderful perspective on the Mass, and on our good fortune to be Catholics -- we don't have to wait 11 months for forgiveness.

Rabbi let me into the adult Hebrew class because I wanted to understand everything that I was singing. And besides getting to know the Rabbi, who is a wondefully erudite gentleman, it has been a privilege in many ways. For one thing, it's the only place I've sung that I was never told I was too loud. They like robust voices there.

Anyway! I shouldn't have written "Yemach shemo" about Mr. Ciaccio. I do hope he turns from his wickedness and lives. But it puts me in mind of the (very) long version of Leo XIII's prayer to Saint Michael -- especially the part about Satan setting up his agents within the Church.

Shalom Johnathan,

I'm an "honorary Jew" as well. The nickname Yachov Ben Yachov having been given to me by some Messianic Jewish friends. Thanks for the clarification.

Baruch HaShem!

With these types around, why is the ADL is spinning its wheels over Mel?

C Matt,

That's what I've been saying!

These guys are troglodytes. They make the "Novus Ordo Watch" guys look like "First Things".

Holy *&%#! Apparently, the Zionists are to blame for:

1) the Recession
2) Monetary instability and deflation
3) High Taxes
4) Shoddy production standards
5) Runaway immigration
6) Moral Decay

And that's just the first paragraph! Those Zionists sure are tough! Man, why didn't anybody tell me this stuff before! Must have been that damn Paul VI and JPII. Slackers! They should have elected Nixon Pope! He would have taken care of those uppity Jews!

Seriously, the first paragraph of that article sounds like it was written by Goebbels. It should end with a "Pick up your swords and strike a blow for Christ . . . kill the Jews!"

Hey, I'm as peeved as the next guy at the inability of many modern Jews to separate criticism of Jewish people and ideas from anti-Semitism (like statements about possible Israeli mishandling of their security issues, or criticisms of the involvement of a number of 19th and 20th century Jews in radical politics). But this is ridiculous!

Larry,

Whom are you refering too?

Oh wait I get it the "Daily[anti]Catholic" people. I'm awake! Really I am!

The Trads are correct about many things--ie the interfaithism and more but I find the anti-semitism scary! Why do think there is such a strong anti-semitic streak and hatred for Israel in Rad-Trad Catholicism? Im sure this doesnt not belong to every Trad or schismatic Catholic but it is something you see on many websites. When someone starts spouting off about the "Zionists" I feel like Im listening to a bunch of Neo-Nazis!

Victoria,

The French have an expression, "nostalgie de la boue" ("nostalgia for mud"), meaning the sentimental attachment people can have for even the most attrocious aspects of the past. Traditional Catholics are sentimental for many good and worthy things that have been forgotten by the post-Vatican II Church (the traditional Mass, Gregorian chant, ChesterBellocian apologetics, traditional devotions, Thomism, anti-modernism, etc.), but sometimes that nostalgia can extend to things that genuinely did need changing. If Vatican II and its aftermath threw the baby out with the bathwater, many traditionalists are equally determined to salvage the bathwater along with the baby!

Wise words from Mark Cameron, a Traditionalist in whom there is found no anti-Semitism!

The Problem with debating Radtrads on their anti-Semitism is that the Radtrads seem to take the Position that Anti-Semitism is just another valid neutral opinion (like tax cuts, free trade, Molinism, Thomism..etc)that any Catholic may hold & not an evil, immoral & anti-Christian view that is sinful & completely unaccepable in civilized society.

Anti-Semitism runs deep among the RadTrads. Why the latest issue of CATHOLIC FAMILY NEWS quotes with approval the statement "The Jews are the Kingdom of Satan on Earth."
I think they pick this up from the wave of vicious anti-Semitism that swept France in the second half of the 19th C, given their rampant Francophilia. Ultra-conservative French Catholics couldn't forgive the Jews for being given full citizenship by the Revolutionary Government.
