Let's face it Mark, Sungenis is right! Jews run the Catholic Church! They have always run it. Rav Yeshua & Rav Shaul those dirty Jews have tainted the whole New Testament! Forget the Masonic Jewish nature of Vatican II. The sickness reaches deeper! We must remove the Jewish god from the NT.

"Spiritually we are Semites!" -Pius XI*

*Or maybe it was Pius XII who wrote this for a speach give by Pius XI.

Sorry for the correction, sir, but it's spelled "Sieg Heil". Like their hero Siegfried.

Can someone tell me where in canon law it permits symbols associated with non-Christian religions to be placed prominently in a church?

Can you show us where it doesn't?

I seem to recall that the Santa Croce church in Florence features a star of David on the facade. Anyone else out there remember this? It's the church where Dante, Machiavelli, and either Da Vinci or Michelangelo are buried....my memory is really bad.

I thought we Christians claimed King David as our own, too, since one of the titles for Jesus is "Son of David." So why I should stress about his star being used?

peace,

Judaism a non-Christian religion? As if Judaism where the same as Hinduism!
Catholicism & Judaism are religions that have been both revealed by God (unlike Hinduism, Islam, or Lutherianism).

The only difference is Judaism is Christianity before the Christ & Catholic Christianity is Judaism now that the Messiah has come.

Also the fact the Star of David was a Christian symbol before it was adopted by the Jews is lost on some legalistic sola scriptura minded people.

(A Sola Scriptura person wouldn't believe in let's say the Sinlessness of Mary because it's "not mentioned in the Bible". So naturally they interpret the rest of the world using this error. They would believe because there is nothing in Canon Law that says you may use a Star of David. That some how it's against the church teaching to have one. Even thought it was originally a Christian symbol.)

Of course one should expect the heretics to misunderstand the world as well as the Church because they are dogged by their heresy.

"Albert Speer, Hitler's architect mentions that only once before the collapse of the Third Reich had he seen Hitler deeply disturbed. In 1935 the Fuhrer had what was supposed to have been a perfunctory meeting with the intransigent anti-Nazi Archbishop of Munich, Cardinal Faulhaber. The half hour meeting lasted several hours and Hitler was badly shaken at the end of the interview. Considering the future career of the Cardinal, who was one of Hitler's most outspoken critics in Germany and a staunch defender of the Jews to the end, it is reasonable to assume that Faulhaber pointed out to Hitler the spiritual implications of the road he was on. HITLER NEVER ARRESTED FAULHABER FOR GOING SO FAR AS TO HAVE THE STAR OF DAVID WITH THE YELLOW ARMBAND PLACED ON THE STATUES OF CHRIST AND MARY IN THE CHURCHES OF HIS DIOCESE. But he did reject the call to conversion. There was still a choice for Hitler in 1935." (my emphasis)

The Washington Post is running a contest right now for the funniest "unwise things to say" in different circumstances. One of the circumstances is "To Saint Peter."

Of course, the obvious entry is something like, "Look, just shut the book and open the gates, Rooster Boy." This discussion reminded me of an idea that would probably be misunderstood by too many Post readers: "Wait a minute! The Jews run everything here, too?"

I can't imagine why I forgot about this yesterday: check out these photos from the London Oratory - especially the lower left corner of the high altar, which is also shown in detail in the second photo on the following page:

http://www.brompton-oratory.org....tour/ page2.html

As discussed yesterday, the menorah is far more a Jewish symbol that the Star of David. It's hard to tell the scale from the photos, but the menorahs are really quite sizable. Not to mention they are pre-Vatican II and permanent, unlike the photo that caused the fuss at Novus Ordo Watch.

Maybe we should send these photos to them...they can both attend Tridentine Mass every Sunday *and* picket!

Correction: "...unlike the Star of David in the photo..."

Steve:

Ever hear of a Christmas tree in a sanctuary? Indeed, Christmas itself is celebrated in a conscious decision to turn the Feast of the Unconquered Sun into the Feast of the Unconquered Son.

Fascinating how you *never* miss a chance to complain about things pertaining to Jews.

An even worse, the Eeevil Masonic All-seeing Eye can be found in Baroque Catholic churches, built when it was still a symbol for the Holy Trinity.

I once wrote THE REMNANT over a picture they ran of an historic church in the US with the All-Seeing Eye plainly visible and pointed out that that proved Masonic infiltration in the nineteenth century. But Mr. Matt declined to print my letter for some reason.

+J.M.J+

>Baruch HaTah B'Shem Adonni

Um, it's "Baruch habah B'Shem Adonai".

(That's "Blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord")

The basilica for my diocese features a Star of David as part of its decoration.

Also, the church in which I was baptized and grew up has a stained glass window above the choir loft, depicting Our Lady with a crown over her head and a ring of stars, the largest one being a Star of David! Rather appropriate for the Daughter of Zion.

Is it wrong to depict Our Lady standing on a crescent moon (Rev 12:1), because a crescent moon is the main symbol for Islam?

If your local library has a copy of the Encyclopedia Judaica, check out volume 11, starting at page 687. The article is "Magen David", and one accompanying picture shows a "Six-pointed star carved on a marble slab as decoration for the episcopal throne in the Cathedral of Anagni, Italy, 12th/13th century".

Yes, this symbol was used by Christians even before it became an official symbol of Judaism.

In Jesu et Maria,

"But Mr. Matt declined to print my letter for some reason." So there is no confusion, I AM NOT that Mr. Matt.

Rosemarie,

I love you sweetie.

People who are fussing over this need to spend some time in Europe, where you can find the Star of David throughout many old churches. I noticed this often in Italy, especially when looking at mosaic work, and the otherwise non-objective ornament carved into the stone. I remember seeing the Star of David even in churches built right after the Reconquista in Spain. That this would upset anyone is disturbing.

From the way some carry on you would think that it was really a scandal, like the Pope treating a nonbeliever as a human being or praying for peace or other such acts.

Perhaps this is a anti-Jewish conspiracy of Catholics to seize the symbols of Jewish religion and culture(in the same way the advocates of homosexual rights have claimed the pink triangle and the word "gay" for their own use -- or as the Nazis used a twisted cross for their own)

>I AM NOT that Mr. Matt.

I reply: Of course not. You are far far too reasonable.

There are many Magen David-esque designs on the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, of course.

No harm meant, c matt. It's just that I can't keep straight the two cousins named Matt who run THE WANDERER and THE REMNANT and didn't want to use the wrong first name.

Any do you know what's even worse - right in the heart of the Vatican, they've got this place called the Sistine Chapel and it's been covered with images of Greek and pagan gods, intermingled with Christian images. What kind of syncretism is this!! For shame!!!!

Bobo,

And they're nekkid!

Well, it's a lot easier to get up and go to Mass on a Sunday morning if you get to look at nekkid people.

The swastika is a Hindu symbol, isn't it? I've heard that people who visit Hindu countries see it all over the place and wonder why Nazism is so popular!

Our Jewish Mother, pray for us. Nag us. Set the bar high for us to succeed and please you and the Father. Introduce me to your Son. I'll have a piece of that matzoh. Thank you.

Actually the swastika is a Buddhist symbol (even though they may have borrowed it from the Hindus). I was in Korea recently and you see them (albeit reversed) displayed quite prominently on Buddhist temples.
