A great man to admire - from a safe distance!

St. Hieronymous, patron of combox combatants, ora pro nobis...

One of my fav quotes, because i am one cranky, impatient lady:
"It's easy to give the appearance of patience when at a keyboard. If you were to speak with me face to face, you'd learn that patience is not one of my more conspicuous virtues. That may explain why I have a soft spot for St. Jerome, who is said to have had an attitude problem. I think of him as the patron of crabby people." -karl keating 2004

Well, there is always that longsufferingly patient ladies' man saint, St. Fiacre.

Umm, Pat……., don't quite know how to say this but good ole' Karl means crabby in the emotional sense, not crabby in the, uh, well, you go read the Patronage link

I'll just stick with St Jerome thanks.
Maybe I should have said this in a more St-Jerome-y manner......

That's hilarious. Jerome's my patron, my confirmation name, my favorite saint (after the obvious ones).

I think he had an obsessive-compulsive disorder. I think that because I have (a mild) one, and I definitely can identify with a whole lot of his quirks. It seems like the perfect explanation for so much about him.

No wonder lions liked him...

Y'know, St. Jerome is also the patron saint of librarians. Strangely appropos the discussions of the ALA below.

In Jesu et Maria,

Why do rude people suppose that they're charming and that people love them for their boorishness, whereas their rudness is a double occasion of sin - one is rude and the other feels the superiority of patronizing the boor.

The hell with rude bastards, I say!
