Beliefnet commenters: Making Mark appreciate us more for twenty-four hours.

Mark,

Those comments were amazingly narcissistic.

Rather than engage with what you and the other guest bloggers actually wrote, virtually all of the comments were obsessed with the way in which an idea was presented. It was exactly like grumpy old men kibbitzing about the performance from the side-line.

There is good news, though; you were described in some of the comments as a "RWM (rich white man)." So it appears that the blogging gig is finally paying off for you.

Does that mean that Mark's regular commenters get free copies of his tapes and books?

I'd never been to Beliefnet prior to yesterday. I only went back today to check out Barb's posts 'cos she's wonderfully insightful & I enjoy reading her work. But I won't be going back. Seems the "belief" in Beliefnet is to be taken (at least by those who post there) as "belief in snark, trash talk, assumption, & put downs." I feel link posting a response but is the barrage of snark I'd be subjecting myself to from those posters worth the couple of minutes creating an account? Methinks not. But I'll pray for them.

Peter:

If only it were so.

I've noticed this in the past. Most who post there are angry, bitter folks. There are a few patient, brave souls who will try to straighten them out, but for the most part the comments are flooded by the folks you saw there yesterday and today.
