The usual rejoinder I hear to that argument and its analogues is that "that isnt the way it happened". Not suddenly or at least rapidly, as implied by those sorts of analogies, but slowly and gradually over vast amounts of time. |

I wish I understood what Mark's statement meant. It seems like a counter-claim to a claim that has not been made. Certainly God made the world. Certainly the world is filled with His glory. Certainly we see His intelligence in operation. All those things are spectacularly present within the operation of evolution, and some see that as scandalous (but hasn't God always been scandalous to the world?). Too much of Intelligent Design (and other near-relations) is insistent on giving glory in a particular chosen way, and it may inevitably end up giving no glory at all. |
