Seriously, I do find myself getting depressed in the end at such lunacy. I'm a cradle Catholic of Eastern European descent - so I heard such things all the time when I was growing up, right? Well - no, I didn't. My Polish mother said off-the-wall stuff about Jews - but it was off -the-wall in a different sense. I heard, for instance, "that Jews make the best doctors - everyone knows that." (All of our doctors were Jewish.) And "Jewish men are good husbands - they treat their wives like queens." At some point, I started to wonder where my mother was getting her information from. After all, she grew up on a farm in the Dakotas - I suspected both Jewish doctors and Jewish husbands were kinda thin on the ground out there. She told me that that's what her mom always told her.

I reply: I may not be a historian like Sandra BUT I know from reading your common Encyclopedia there where populations of Jews in the diaspora in the 100,000's or millions. Rome & Alexandera had huge Jewish populations. To assume all first century Jews or even the majority where living in Israel is ignorant.

I know "Charles Coughlin" has been banned and this thread is nearly dead, but I wanted to point out the irrelevance of the Khazars argument.
When someone converts to Judaism, they are considered Jewish. The rabbis said it is like they are "reborn" as Jews. They are allowed to marry other Jews and have children. Jews actually have little or no concern with notions such as "racial purity" - unlike many anti-Semites.
So even if all the Ashkenazi Jews were just Khazars, the very fact that they converted to Judaism would make them true Jews. I'm not agreeing with "Charles Coughlin," mind you, just pointing out the problem with his argument, rooted as it is in essentially racist beliefs (whether he realizes it or not) about "pure bloodlines" and such.
