Sadly, I found out not too long ago that the minimum age for adoption is 30; the max is 45, which gives us - with a 13 year age difference - a window of two years to adopt...after waiting another 7 for me to reach 30.

Roman infanticide of girl infants ended up with Roman men marrying the Christian women whose parents didn't expose them. Sometimes gravely sinful cultures kill themselves off or pave their way for their own correction, though many souls are tragically lost in the process.

Rodney Stark made that exact point in his great book "The Rise of Christianity." The Christian prohibition on infanticide, abortion, contraception etc. resulted in a larger and healthier base of Christian women for pagan men to marry and be converted by.

Another bad sign for Americano investors seeking unlimited profits in People's Republic. Too few prospective female customers to skew the economy. But a lot of angry males grown up with limited prospects for mates. Getting rather antsy no doubt as young men fond of building skyscrapers. Racing fast motorized devices. Throwing bodies around in full contact sports like Americano football. And throwing bodies around in wars. Any wars. The growth of People's Repub. economy bounces off concrete ceiling of its own totalitarian government. Might be the Mateless Men of the 21st Century to bust down an economy nearest yo-u. Hong Kong. Taiwan. Japan. South Korea. Downtown L.A. maybe.....

A good friend of mine adopted a Chinese girl a year or so ago. She is a single woman, never married, and had to go through tons of paperwork and background checks (I was one of the people who wrote a recommendation for her). It is not easy, but it can be done. Don't lose heart.
