This post nicely sums up what is wrong with American media in general. There's not one drop of objectivity left in the MSM ocean. You have to pick a side, and hope there is a needle of truth in the biased reporting haystack.

I think this comment below the article nailed it:

I'm guessing he wrote it because he's paid to write. A better question might be why would anyone pay Dan to write.

One thing that never fails to amaze me is how leftists always illogically skip from point a to point z, and this particular article is proof positive point. It's as though he says to himself, "I'm going to present two completely different and unrelated statements and demonstrate how the speaker is a complete hypocrite." Unreal.

I think the following is a fair summary of Carpenter's very brief posting; there are two points:

(1) The Catholic Church is too involved in politcs! (when it comes to abortion)

(2) The Catholic Church is not involved enough in politics! (when it comes to rectifying social and economic disparity)

Ha-ha! Reminds me of Chesterton's biting commentary on the Church's critics from Orthodoxy: that they practically cancel each other out. On the one hand the Church is chest deep in bloodshed and war; on the other hand she's much too passsive. On the one hand the Church has a pathological hatred of sex; on the other hand Catholics have way too many kids. And so on, bla bla bla. Chesterton is having himself a good chuckle Upstairs right now.

Did you notice on the sidebar of Front Page - a trip to Rome guided by Victor Davis Hanson and David Horowitz. sign me up for that.

Maybe they are going to deliver their encyclical to the Pope: "Deus Bellum Amat."
