I don't think so, Orthros. I've encountered a hedgehog with this problem myself, scuffling around the road in the early hours of the morning. In the pre-dawn light, it looked like something out of a Bosch painting. So it's a real problem.

Can't see there'd be any real way round it other than getting people to stop littering the streets, though.
